New Delhi: Equestrian Federation of India (EFI), in continuation with its efforts to promote Equestrian sports in India has announced its calendar for 2021-22 season. First phase of the season has kick started with Eventing, Dressage & Show Jumping disciplines being held in Jaipur & Bengaluru from 20th to 26th October. 

 

-  FEI CCI 2 star (Long) for Eventing Discipline - 20-24 Oct 2021 at 61 Cavalry, Jaipur.

- Show Jumping – 1st Selection Trial for 19th Asian Games 2022 - 22-26 Oct 2021, Bengaluru

FEI DRESSAGE CDI 2 STAR (PSG, INTER-I & INTER-I FS TO MUSIC) 26-29 Oct 2021,  Bengaluru

 

*Aforementioned events will also be considered as selection trial for athletes and horses for 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China wef 10 – 25 Sep 2022*

 

Speaking on the announcement, Col Jaiveer Singh, Secretary General, Equestrian Federation of India says, “It is indeed an honour for EFI to host an FEI events of such magnitude wherein over 75 prominent riders and 100 plus horses are likely to participate and compete in a fierce contest for the podium. It will be an apt opportunity for Indian riders to showcase their skills at international level equestrian infrastructure as well as to gauge their competitive prowess.

 

“We at EFI have promulgated a comprehensive COVID Protocol by incorporating guidelines issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Home Affairs, WHO, FEI for training and conduct of Equestrian Events in India.” added Col Jaiveer Singh

 

FEI CCI 2 star (Long) for Eventing Discipline - 20-24 Oct 2021 at 61 Cavalry, Jaipur:

 

Aiming to promote the equestrian activities, Indian Army has been extending all possible support. This time 61 Cavalry, Jaipur has volunteered to provide infrastructure, manpower, medical and veterinary teams for sake of resumption of the equestrian activities held up due to COVID challenges

 

The tournament is being held over four days with veterinary inspection on the first day, Dressage test on the second and third day, X-Country test on the fourth day and Show Jumping test on the last day.

 

Eventing is an equestrian event where a single horse and rider combination compete against other competitors in three phases consisting of each of three disciplines of Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping on three different days as an equestrian triathlon. Competitors accumulates penalty points in each phase and at the end of the event, the pair with the lowest score takes home top honours.

Show Jumping – 1st Selection Trial for 19th Asian Games 2022 - 22-26 Oct 2021, Bengaluru:

 

Show Jumping is an Olympic and an Asian Games Discipline. Top Riders, some of them being Asian Games participants, will be contesting for podium finish at this event.

 

The event Show Jumping has two categories of competitions on two rounds at 1.40M Firstly and after two days rest another two round at 1.5M. The Show Jumping consists of obstacles called jumps in an area of 65m x 40 m. These obstacles have a sequence in which a Horse-Rider combination has to jump. These jumps are such that they fall in case they are touched by a horses. Generally, these jumps consists of poles. These poles are used to create vertical and parallel jumps. For each knock down a penalty of 4 faults is incurred by the rider and for one refusal also is the same penalty. However, on two refusal the Horse-Rider competition is eliminated from the competition. A time limit is also fixed depending on the length of the coursed and speed fixed as per the grade of competition. The winner is a Horse-Rider combination who incurres minimum penalties. Sometimes a jump off is required at the end of single or double round competitions in case there are more than three riders with same penalties.

Dressage is described as “the highest expression of horse training” where horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. Dressage competitions consist of a series of individual tests with an increasing level of difficulty. The most accomplished horse and rider teams perform FEI tests, written by the international equestrian governing body called the Fédération Équestre Internationale or FEI. The highest level of modern competition is at the Grand Prix level. This is the level test ridden in the prestigious international competitions (CDIs), such as the Olympic games, Dressage World Cup, and World Equestrian Games. Dressage governed by the rules of the FEI include the following levels: "small tour" (Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I) Intermediate A, Intermediate B and "big tour" (Intermediate II, Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special).
