Rammilan is a resident of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. A tragic incident shook his entire life a few years ago. While working on the Chara machine, he met with an accident and had to undergo the amputation of his right hand!

The entire course of his life changed after this calamity. He could no longer work on the machine and had to retire from his job.

But he was a man of strong will, and hence he opened a general store to sustain himself and his family. But raising a family on the meagre income from a small general store was difficult.

Without any security as collateral, he could not get any loan from banks to develop his business.

Rammilan lived in his ancestral family house which was old and dilapidated. Although the house was handed over as family legacy, Rammilan did not have any official papers for the house.

On the 24th of April 2020, a new hope changed his life.

When the world was shaken by the global COVID-19 pandemic that engulfed the majority of the humankind, the Narendra Modiji-led NDA government launched an ambitious mission called Swamitva Yojana on the Panchayati Divas under the Panchayat Raj Mantralaya.

The significant objective of the Swamitva Yojana is to create an official record of residential property in the form of property cards for the rural population.

Such records will ensure that the rural loanee receives bank loans for various growth purposes, with their officially  registered houses as collateral/security.

It is a simple solution to promote the growth engine in rural Bharat, but, unfortunately, such systematic documentation had never been a priority for any previous governments.

With the advancement in technology, the process has become simplified and can be applied effectively.

The noteworthy point is that the drawing of the boundaries of owned property is done through drone technology.

Swamitva Yojana plays a paramount role in fulfilling the Hon. Prime Minister’s dream of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

There are innumerable youngsters from rural Bharat who feel a deep urge to stand on their own feet and contribute to nation-building but are helpless as they do not have any assets to put up as security/collateral to get bank loans.

Official documentation in the government records grants them this facility.

Swamitva Yojana will be applicable across the entire nation during the next four years. (2020-2024) and within this span of four years, 6.62 lakh villages will be brought under its ambit.

In the initial stage, the beneficiaries woukd belong to 763 villages from six states, which would include villages in Uttar Pradesh (346), Haryana (221), Maharashtra (100), Madhya Pradesh (44), Uttarakhand (50) and Karnataka (2).

In the initial stage of this Yojana, around one lakh beneficiaries would obtain their property cards on their registered mobile numbers by downloading an SMS link.

The previous governments sloganeered relentlessly about "Garibi Hatao", but the initiation and implementation of any proactive strategy to strengthen the growth movement was always ignored or negated.

The Hon. Prime Minister’s visionary step will bring an ocean of change in the life of the underprivileged rural common man. Now a common man can dream big, lead a life filled with self esteem, and participate in creating Naya Bharat.
